New Season
Bridgwater's All or Nothing has started it's new season with a
successful title defense. Audrius Budrys travelled to Dorchester to
defend his Southern Area title against up and coming unbeaten
campaigner Pete Kosnar. Kosnar is known for his aggressive, attacking
style and Audrius' plan was to stay on his toes and work his counter
attacks. This worked for the whole five rounds during which Audrius
showed off his superior fighting style and his experience. Kosnar was
game and relentless but often showed signs of frustration because he
simply could not land any decent shots on the Bridgwater fighter.
Unanimous points win and still IKF Amateur Southern Area Champion
Audrius Budrys. Looking forward to matching him for our home show in
June.On the same night over in Bristol our youngsters were in action. Making his ring debut was 15 year old James Witcombe. James has moved into kickboxing from the Karate club and has made steady progress in his training. It was the right time then that James took on another young fighter 14yr old Ben Conners of Wasps Bristol. James has had one or two training issues in the build up to this fight and so it was a nervous young Bridgwater fighter that stepped into the ring at Yate leisure centre to face a home favourite with the crowd behind him. The first round went as predicted with the home fighter throwing everything, and it seem to unsettle James for a period. But in the second round James Witcombe came out with more aggression and this proved to be a turning point for him and the fight. The two hard fought rounds after the first were judged even so the result went to the Bristol fighter by one point. Well done James, full contact fighter.
I must apologise for not waiting to corner Lewis Jordan, I dashed to Dorchester for Audrius' title fight. But he was in good hands with Joe Bale in his corner. I'm delighted to say Lewis won by a unanimous decision, well done to Lewis, who is developing quite a fight record. Thanks to Joe and Chris James for their running around and vital corner work.

Rob
We now have another Amateur Southern Area Champion in the 'All or Nothing' stable of fighters.
Rob Ellick took on Bournemouth's Ricky Beale on the Absolute Adrenaline home show and convincingly outpointed Beale in every of the five rounds. Ricky Beale is known as a solid puncher but the tactics for Ellick before the fight were quite simple, to keep on the move. In fact Beale's marching forward looking to hit Ellick with big shots proved his undoing as Rob hit his oncoming target almost at will. Rob Ellick's kick count for each round must have been twenty plus, little wonder he had some fitness concerns in the corner. However, the work rate and variation of attacks from the Bridgwater fighter proved too much for Beale and a sustained attack from Rob in the fifth almost had his opponent over. Unanimous points decision, well done Rob, Southern Area Champion at super welterweight.
Rob will be in action on our next home show June 6th when he will be attempting to avenge an earlier defeat against Weston super Mare’s Paul Healy.
